LIFE-GIVING RELATIONSHIPS

WHILE I WAS TRAVELING IN ZAMBIA NOT LONG AGO, a pastor reminded me of this famous African proverb:

If you want to go fast, travel alone.

If you want to go far, travel together.

This well-known couplet suggests that a lengthy journey is best shared with others. Faithfulness is an endurance race and is most successful when traveled in the company of those who encourage our steady forward movement.

To this point, much of our conversation about consistency and perseverance could be applied on an individual basis. Now, in Week Four, let’s turn our attention to the strength we find through the companionship of others and the strength they may find through our companionship.
